At the same time, they are becoming more sedentary: one out of two adults don’t engage in any physical activity whatsoever. The WHO suggests a minimal physical activity corresponding to 10,000 steps a day - which most Britains never come close to. The most troubling element is that young people are the most affected by this inactivity. Those between 18-24 are less physically active than the 55-64 year-olds. More work happens behind a desk, more recreational activities take place in front of a screen, there is less walking… This evolution does not bode well. For an excess of body fat can have far-reaching consequences and provoke many pathologies: cardiovascular illnesses, diabetes, joint problems, respiratory problems, depressions, several types of cancer (notably of the liver, uterus or breast). So how can you lose weight and burn fat if you don’t like doing sports? Learning yoga can be a good alternative if you want to lose fat in your thighs and hips and work toward your ideal weight.Lose Weight with YogaThis is THE most important question to ask yourself before starting on a diet.Do you want to loose weight or do you need to lose weight? It’s not the same thing.Indeed, your idea of ideal weight is probably probably influenced by society’s dictates. The image in your mirror doesn’t correspond to the photoshopped models in the magazines - and so you consider yourself too fat and want to lose weight. The second is a major health issue. You need to lose weight because your health is at risk.To give you an idea of what applies to you, it is important to calculate your BMI, or Body Mass Index. There are sites that let you calculate it by simply entering your height and weight. Here is the official classification of the WHO (World Health Organisation):Less than 16: anorexia or malnutritionBetween 16.5 and 18.5: thinBetween 18.5 and 25: normal weightBetween 25 and 3 0: overweightBetween 30 and 35: moderate obesity (class 1)Between 35 and 40: high obesity (class 2)More than 40: massive or morbid obesity (class 3)As long as your BMI is situated between 18.5 and 25, your weight is normal. No need for draconian measure if you want to lose a few pounds. Simply practising physical activity will help you keep in shape. If your BMI is higher than 25, you are overweight - to a greater or lesser extent. Consulting a doctor and/or a nutritionist is the best first step to understanding where your excess weight comes from and how to remedy it. Surplus weight can have several causes:A diet too rich in fat or sugar: a nutritionist can help you reduce your fat consumption and improve the quality of your dietStress: Yoga is particularly well-adapted to help you relax, so your body stockpiles less fat and burns more calories.  Read our yoga teacher's top tips on de-stressing your life.Insufficient physical exercise and a lifestyle that is too sedentary: walk, run , take yoga lessons… There are many solutions to help you reduce your body fat!Can Yoga Help You Lose Weight? So, can yoga help you get rid of superfluous pounds?Broadly speaking: YES.Yoga consists of a sequence of physical poses (asanas), more or less tonic and done at a more or less rapid rhythm depending on the type of yoga. So, as you will be moving, toning and exercising your muscles: yes, yoga can help you get back into shape or stay fit.One aspect is very important when trying to lose weight: pleasure. If you don’t enjoy practicing yoga, you won’t be motivated, will skip yoga lessons or home yoga sessions which means you won’t attain your weight-loss goals.Yoga helps tone and sculpt your body. It can be very useful for a flat stomach, for example. But yoga is much more than a simple physical exercise.Yoga classes offer gentle exercises that can help with weight loss. Photo credit: Fat Yoga via Visualhunt.comIf your weight problems are very grave, yoga courses alone wil l not be enough. You will need an activity with cardio elements to help burn your fat reserves. But yoga can help relieve stress and learn to feel good in your body, so that change can come from within rather than without - help on a mental rather than physical level. If you want to lose more than 20 pounds, it’s important that you get help from a medical professional in weight loss to monitor the physical effects and suggest what strategies are best for you. But yoga can be a great help together with a more intense physical activity.Though it cannot make you lose weight fast, the benefits of yoga for losing stomach fat, building abdominal muscles, improving all-round muscle tone and reducing cellulite are real.In combination with a balanced diet, the gentle muscle exercises provided by yoga can lead to significant results in weight loss.Search for a yoga class here: Yoga near me.What Yoga Style is Best for Weight Loss? There are several different types of yoga. All forms of yoga ar e based on deep breathing and harmony between mind and body. But if the slower aspect of the more traditional yoga forms turn you off, there are more dynamic styles such as Ashtanga or Vinyasa yoga that are particularly well suited to burning calories and toning your body. These yoga styles are also good for eliminating toxins and teaching you to listen to your body and its signals for hunger and fullness.Additionally, many yoga poses help modulate the adrenal and thyroid glands which help regulate our metabolism. You can also try Bikram Yoga if there are no contraindications in your case. It is basically a form of Hatha Yoga (the most common yoga style) executed in a room heated to 40 °C and with 40% humidity to facilitate the evacuation of toxins.A Bikram Yoga lesson generally lasts 90 minutes and is made up of 26 poses and two breathing exercises. You should definitely consult a doctor before practising Bikram Yoga.Though you shouldn’t do more than two Bikram Yoga classes a week, if you want to lose weight quickly, daily home yoga routines can help. These daily home yoga sessions can be rounded out with studio lessons or with a private tutor for:Vinyasa YogaAshtanga YogaPrenatal YogaSophrologyPositive thinking exercisesMeditation exercises CarleyYoga Teacher 5.00 (5) £100/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors LynnYoga Teacher 4.89 (9) £35/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors GenYoga Teacher £45/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors JulieYoga Teacher £30/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors AliceYoga Teacher £20/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors LauraYoga Teacher 5.00 (6) £70/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors UndramYoga Teacher £25/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors LottieYoga Teacher £10/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutorsWhat Are the Best Yoga Poses for Weight Loss?Together with a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, fibre and very little fat, yoga can help lose weight and especially stomach fat.B e mindful of your general state of health before doing the following exercises. Become more flexible 2. Manage stress 3. Learn to meditate 4. A physical activity you can do at home 5. Increased concentrationLose weight with anti-stress yogaYoga helps you manage stress - while some people lose their appetites under stress, others find their appetite increase. They eat because they’re stressed, and so they gain weight. Regular practice of any form of yoga helps decrease stress levels. Being more relaxed, the munchies disappear.Yoga also helps improve sleep patterns. Sleep problems are intimately linked to stress. Some meditation or yoga exercises just before going to sleep can help reduce stress levels and improve the quality of sleep. Having less trouble falling asleep and sleeping through the nig ht, you won’t be as tired when the alarm rings.Yoga’s ultimate goal is harmonyBeyond physical activity, yoga is above all a philosophy and introducing it into your life can fundamentally change you. You will feel better in your mind and thus in your body.Trying out yoga means incorporating it in your lifestyle. You’ll see - though you might say “meditation is not for for me” or “yoga is too slow, I really need something more energising” or even “I don’t really like all that spiritual stuff”, and yet, with the right yoga teacher, you will soon find yourself slowly adopting all the facets of yoga into your daily life.Basically, you are aiming for harmony between mind and body. Even if you need to lose more than 20 pounds, you will find that, after a few yoga sessions, those pounds that were ruining your life now seem meaningless.Yoga is not a competition, as any yoga teacher will tell you: neither against others nor against yourself. The ultimate goal is not to mas ter all the poses, lose X pounds or test your limits - the point of yoga is to make peace with yourself and learn to accept your body.Finding A Personal Trainer Specialising in Yoga to Lose WeightOf course, you can do home yoga but if you are just starting out you might need a little motivational help.Is the secret to eating less and healthily to be found at the feet of a yoga sports coach? Why use a personal trainer specialising in yoga?Hiring a yoga-oriented sports coach can be a good solution if you need to:Lose stomach fatLose thigh fatLose arm fatLose weight on your hipsLose weight in your buttocksTone your upper thighsLose weight in your faceReduce celluliteThe advantage of a sports coach is that they have training in something besides yoga. If he or she decides you need more energetic physical exercises to lose weight fast, they can give you advice on other sports, such as skipping rope, cardio exercises, weight lifting, pilates or other muscular reinforcement sports in additi on to yoga.A yoga-oriented personal trainer will have the advantage of both understanding how the body works and being open to other alternatives than your average sports coach. This is why we suggest you try and unite these two aspects - yoga teacher and personal trainer - in one person.Adopting a healthy dietIf you can, make sure your personal trainer also has a good knowledge of nutrition. He can give you advice on how to eat healthy to lose weight, such as:The number of calories a day you should be eatingHigh-fat foods you should avoidHealthy, filling snacks for in-betweenEtc.The stress relief that practising yoga brings helps you stick to a healthy diet. Photo credit: foodswings via Visual HuntIn addition to tailoring your sports programme to your individual needs, they can help you define the right diet to aid you on the road to your dream body - as you define it.A personal trainer will motivate you.A sports coach is also a good motivator. Alone at home, there is a tendency to abandon all your good resolutions fairly quickly, while a personal trainer who will be giving classes once or twice a week won’t let you skimp. No way around it - they will make sure you do the exercises.A few additional tips for losing weight:Green tea is an excellent anti-oxidantGreen vegetables are low in fatBanish meal substitutes: they are generally high in sodium or sugarWhite meat is leaner than red meatDrinking frequently helps against the munchiesAvoid quick-release sugars in the morning and opt for salty and fatty foods such as eggs and whole-grain meatAvoid fad diets! Hyper-protein, Dukan, cabbage-soup diets… none have proven themselves in the long run, and all are catalysts for the famous yo-yo effect. The key is a balanced diet, not too fatty, not too poor either, and regular physical activitiy.Ask our personal trainers if you don’t believe me!To sum it up:No need to follow the newest fad diet. Concentrating instead on healthy, well-balanced eating habits while d oing physical exercise is usually enough to stay in shape!Yoga is not a magic wand that will magically let you lose weight - but it is useful for toning your body and muscling it evenly. In addition to aiding in weight loss, yoga is also a natural anti-depressant. It will help you manage stress and let go of your negative thoughts. The vicious stress-nibbling-pounds circle will be broken, leaving the happier yoga-healthy eating-healthy body circle in its place.A personal trainer specialising in yoga can help with nutritional advice and other, more intense physical activities to complement your yoga lessons.Be careful not to hurt yourself when doing yoga poses. Square Root of 1296 Help

Square Root of 1296 Help In order to find the square root of a given number, we should write the given number in terms of its prime factors. The square root of 1296, represented as 1296 can be written in terms of its prime factors as = (2* 2* 2* 2* 3* 3* 3* 3). Now the numberswhich are repeating twice inside are pulled outside and hence we get 2* 2* 3* 3 = 36. Therefore the 1296 = 36 and since we get a perfect number, hence 1296 is a perfect square. Example 1:Find the value of the given expression: 4 * 1296. Here each square root radical should be simplified further. 4= (2 * 2). Now pull out the number which is repeating twice inside the radical. This gives: 4 = 2 and 4 is a perfect square since its square root gives a perfect number! And we already have 1296 = 36. So, 4 * 1296 = 2 * 36 = 72. Hence the value of the expression,4 * 1296 is = 72. Example 2: Find the value of the given expression: 9 * 1296. Here each square root radical should be simplified further. 9 = (3 * 3). Now pull out the number which is repeating twice inside the radical. This gives: 9 = 3and here9 is a perfect square. We have, 1296 = 36. So now multiplying the two radicals we get: 9 * 1296 = 3 * 36 = 108. Hence the value of the expression, 9 * 1296 is = 108.

Difference Quotient Solver

Difference Quotient Solver Difference quotient solver is used in the derivative. Dividing the function difference from the difference of the points is called as difference quotient. The difference quotient is used to calculate the slope of a secant line. It is also defined as a slope of secant line passing through two points (x, f(x)) and (x + h, f(x + h)). The slope of a secant line is calculated as m = (f(x + h) f(x)) / (x + h) x. by simplifying this we get slope = (f(x + h) f(x)) / h. Problem 1: Find the difference quotient of function f(x) = 7x + 4. Solution: Given function isf(x) = 7x + 4 = So f(x + h) = 7(x + h) + 4 = 7x +7h + 4 = Now f(x + h) - f(x) = 7x + 7h + 4 - (7x + 4) = 7x + 7h + 4 - 7x - 4 = 7h = We have (f(x + h) f(x)) / h = 7h / h = 7 = The difference quotient of function f(x) = 7x + 4 is 7. Problem 2: Find the difference quotient of the function f(x) =4x^2 +2x 1. Solution: Given function isf(x) =4x^2 +2x 1 = We can write f(x + h) = 4(x + h) ^2+ 2(x + h) 1 = (f (x + h) f(x)) / h = (4(x + h) ^2+ 2(x + h) 1 (4x^2 +2x 1))/ h = (4(x^2 + h^2 + 2xh) + 2x + 2h 1 4x^2 +2x 1)/ h = (4x^2 +4 h^2 + 8xh + 2x + 2h 1 4x^2 -2x + 1)/ h = 4h + 8x + 2 = So the difference quotient of this function is 4h + 8x + 2.

10 More TOEFl Preparation Tips

10 More TOEFl Preparation Tips More than any section of the TOEFL exam, the listening part requires practice, tactics  and a clear head! The TOEFL listening test contains 6 parts and 34 questions. There will be 5 to 6 questions on each part of the listening test. You can expect two conversations, two lectures, and two discussions on academic topics. Here are some tips to prepare you for the test.Click here to take a TOEFL Prep class with a native English Teacher via Skype1. Listen To Different Accents A great way to prepare for TOEFL listening exam is to familiarize your ear with as many accents as possible. The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) for standard English accents and New York Times for standard American accents are great  websites to start.2. Learn To Differenciate  Emotions When we are sad, happy, excited or nervous we use different vocabulary and expressions. Try to familiarize yourself with how native English speakers express their various emotions.3. Develop Your Knowledge of Connector Words and I diomatic Expressions Connector words (e.g. so, actually, therefore) are often used in spoken English as are idiomatic expressions (like a fish out of water, go off the deep end etc). Try to build up a collection of these on a wide a range of topics as possible.4. Learn How To Take Notes Effectively Take old TOEFL tests and also listen to news reports and use them to learn to pick out the key information like who is talking to whom, where, when etc.5. Get On Top Of Numbers Make yourself listen to native English speakers saying numbers and write them down. Years like 1890 and 1960 can be tricky for even the best English students as well as high digit numbers like 23,678 and 345,009. However, these can be practiced beforehand.6. Get to Know Placenames Would you know how to write Leicester (England) or Wisconsin (US) if you heard them? Have a look at maps of Anglophone countries and familiarize yourself with important towns and cities.7. Identify How Ideas Are Developed How are ideas de veloped? This generally happens in a cause/effect (as a result, therefore, consequently)  and comparisons/contrasts (as, like/but, on the other hand) relationship. Try and find examples of this in written texts and familiarize yourself with the words used.8. Try Not to Anticipate What The Speaker Will Say It’s a good idea not to try to anticipate what the speaker will say next. There might be a twist in the tale and you could be wrong. Await the information before answering questions.9. Stay Focused Don’t drift during the listening section. You are likely to miss important information. Try and find a strategy to help you stay focused. Taking notes in the margins helps.10. Turn Off Subtitles Even in your down-time, you can still prepare for the TOEFL listening exam. When you are watching your favorite US or British television shows turn off the subtitles to test your comprehension. Close your eyes if that helps you understand it better!Did you find this blog helpful? Feel free to share it on Facebook and Twitter.

How to Stay Motivated in an Online Class

How to Stay Motivated in an Online Class Online classes offer a learner the option to take a class in the comfort of their own home. Online courses can be more convenient, more cost effective (depending on the course), and can offer the student learning at their own pace. These are just a few benefits of taking an online class. It's no wonder so many people are flocking to take these classes. There are also a few downfalls to taking an online class; one of those being motivation. How does one stay disciplined and motivated to make it through an online course? So keeping on top of your course load in an online class can no doubt be a big challenge. Especially if you lack the self-discipline to chip away at your course little by little. One thing you can do is make your own syllabus or itinerary. Map out your own timeline -oftentimes, online courses have a fluid deadline-leaving most things due at the end of the course or unit. This means you should design a plan and give yourself goals of what to do daily, weekly, and monthly. This way, when test time or the due date for the class comes around, you will easily be able to slide across home base instead of cramming everything in at the last minute. Using other learners to stay on task is another good way to stay motivated with your online learning. Try and buddy up with another student or two in the class and correspond with them throughout the class. Check up on each other's progress and hold each other accountable for due dates. You can even bounce questions and ideas off of one another so you can keep the creative learning juices flowing. Another great way to keep on task is to reward yourself once you hit certain milestones. After each chapter review or quiz you can do something nice for yourself. Dangling a carrot in front of you will keep you motivated. Choose something you love (something small and manageable). Get yourself and ice cream, go shopping for a new clothing item, take yourself out to the movies, or something else! Whatever it might be use a reward system to keep you moving forward. Most of all, just keep your eye on the ball. Remember why you are taking the online course, most likely it's for a very good and rewarding reason. You might be working toward college admission or a college degree, or you might just want to enrich your own life. Whatever the case might be, keep on track and create a system you can follow. You will reap huge rewards in the long run.
